What I am getting at is that the OP seemed to infer that there was some "requirement" for a CAD drawing for giving to builders, rather than just some traditionally sketched out plan.
CAD is just a tool and if you don't know what to put on the drawing in the first place, then its no better than pencil and ruler. Some people think that CAD magically does all the design work too, which is not the case.
The time it would take to learn a new package than then produce something, is not worth spending for a one off job
