I have previously asked about hedging where there is currently a block paved drive

Well, the neighbour has at last removed all the bushes and the tree. I would like to replace the tree on my own land which would mean removing some of the blocks and remove the sub-base. So the question is would a tree survive in the area in the bottom left of the existing drive? I was thinking of removing about 300~400mm of paving to create a hole
