plumbing in sink - quick question

Hi

I am plumbing in a sink unit next to our bath - the 40mm waste pipework for the bath is a couple of inches above the floor level and this height can't be easily altered. This means the pipe runs out of the bath panel along the wall - the problem is that the sink unit has drawers and I don't really want to cut the back to accommodate the pipe.

Question - can I drop the pipe under the floor behind the bath and then back up through the centre of the unit (about 300mm under the floor). This would create a "trap" but the sink is high so the water should flow okay. Any downsides?

I hope this makes sense?

cheers

Tim

well you could but you would need to connect the pipe to the waste fitting without a trap - you should use a Hep V O waste valve - trust me , I`m a Proper Plumber ;) . Also consider running the pipe in the wall where the edge of the unit sits . OK you`d cut a 40mm deep chase but it need only be say 75 mm long - obviously check for wires etc.
