Hi, I've just finished tiling my bathroom floor using the sticky written by gcol, and made although I say it myself a really good job of it. thank you gcol. Now I am going to start on the kitchen and back hall. My query now is that the kitchen has a wooden floor to screw ply onto but the back hall has a concrete floor. Will I glue the ply onto the concrete and if so what type of adhesive is best to use Any advice is very appreciated thank you

Er, at the risk of sounding gullible; you don't need to put ply down on a solid floor. Just tile straight onto the concrete as long as it's level.

The reason I was thinking of sheeting the concrete floor was to avoid a step between the woden floor and the concrete floor
thanks

Aha! Gotcha.

I could probably think of a few 'Bodgit-specials' for you to try but I think you'd do better to listen to one of the pro-types. :D

(Cue 'pro-type' input)

Stick a tile backer board such as Aquapanel to the concrete/screed with rapidset tile adhesive.

And allow an expansion joint where the timber floor meets the concrete floor, this will most likely be across the doorway and need only be an ungrouted joint filled with a suitable colour mastic to match your grout colour.
