Hi, I would be grateful for your thoughts on this please.
My house is 1930’3 brick cavity wall with an asbestos felt DPC.
The DPC is a few mm proud I some places and a few mm under flush in others, there is no sign of rising damp.
The pointing is starting to crumble in some places and needs attention.
The areas along the DPC are one of the sections I need to repair, however in practice trying to point without bridging the DPC with a thin skin of mortar is difficult, my feeling is that the small amount of moisture that might bypass the DPC will most likely dry out quickly.
Is this the case and would using a waterproof mix along the DPC course of mortar be an advantage.
I have re-pointed before in previous houses and not worried too much without any problems arising, but maybe I just got lucky.
Ta!
