Potterton Central Heating EP2000 Programmer fault

Please can someone guide me in the right direction - My EP2000 (brown in colour) keeps tripping out when the Central Heating time comes on (timer mode) and I can hear the programmer clicking inside with the display going faint. When this happens the display reverts to 12:00am. I can put the heating on constant and everything operates ok, just on the timer mode this condition arises. Q1 how does the EP2000 come apart, Q2 do I need a new one? Thanks

If you look underneath there is a half inch thin slot in housing push electricians screwdriver up to realise catch and swivel clock outwards from bottom.
ep2002 will fit straight back onto back plate with no wiring alterations
