The boiler is a potterton combi 80 and was installed 4 years ago

Isn't this a Puma and at least 8 years old?

Tony

There was a brand new Puma on ebay recently!

4 years ago?? are you sure you quoted correct boiler model?
 The invoice for the fitting of this boiler is dated 14/03/04 it also states supply & fit Potterton combi 80, the instructions manual supplied is for a Potterton combi 80 so in answer to your question I would say "yes I have quoted the correct boiler model"

Does it have 2 rocker switches on the left?

If so it's just a facelifted version of the Puma. Electronic ignition, no temperature controls and no water pressure switch. It was prrobably lying in the back of the merchants since they are normally older than this.

Bit early for a diverter swap though ...you sure that's the problem and not dripping hot taps/minor leak.

Nice to know ive been ripped off by another reputable corgi registered expert in who we should all trust.
Anyway the flow pipe from the boiler to the central heating supply gets hot 55 degrees plus the return pipe from the central is cold to warmish the pump inlet and outlet are hot 55 degrees plus the diverter valve is hot & the DHW supply pipe is cold, still too early for diverter swap??

Temporarily isolate the cold feed to the boiler and see if the heating improves.

Do a search on Puma diverters...all info there.

Well unless it's something simple such as poor radiator balancing it would appear to be the diverter.
