Potterton flamingo 20-30 pilot fails to light up

I have a Potterton Flamingo 20-30 gas fired boiler and the pilot has gone off. I tried to light it up but to no success. Sometime (but not always)I can see the spark when I press the ignitor button but the pilot fails to light up. I can hear the gas releasing (or at least I think I can) when pushing the control button.
This is the first time I am experiencing this issue and I don't know what could be the problem.
Any help will be much appreciated

I can only recommend getting an RGI in as you will have to remove/disturb gas carrying parts to fix this from the sounds of it.

What is an RGI? Do you mean I should get a proffesional?

yes he does
