Morning all.

Looking for a little advice regarding my Puma 80.

Its in a ground floor one bed flat. I recently, (about 3 weeks ago) had a problem where the pilot light would not come on, I got an engineer out who said the thermocouple had gone and replaced it. Things have been working fine, however I have noticed the system pressure which previously sat constantly at 1.5 bar is now up at 3 to 3.5.

I have reduced the pressure using the valve loop twice now back to 1.5 but within 24 hours its back up again. It rises as the CH is on then reduces slightly when it is turned off, but not back to the 1.5 level.

Boiler is about 10 years old, not sure if this is relevant or not.

Should I be worried? Any advice would be appreciated.

P.S I did a search but could only find low system pressure issues.

Thanks.

Graeme

if pressure increasing on its own could be filling loop letting by, disconnect the braided tube and see if it drips from the cold main end, or it could be an internal leak in the heat exchanger. If the pressure remains stable while the ch is off but rises fairly quickly when ch on its a prob with pressure vessel.

Many thanks for the quick response twgas. I will check for a leak from the valve today. The pressure does seem to be pretty constant when the CH is off so your second diagnosis re the pressure vessel may be the one.

Is this a situation where my BG Homecare is will get some more use?

All covered in Boiler Pressure Problems, in the FAQ.

If you have BG homecare (full system cover) get them out to sort it. If you have one of the lesser covers it may cost you £50.
