Potterton Puma 80e
Hot Water works fine - when I switch on the C/H it all kicks in nicely lights up but only for about 30 secs then it shuts down - no lockout just shut down of CH - does not affect hot water

Heating has been switched off all Summer - only clues that i have noticed to whats going on is prior to the thing shutting down the pressure rises to 2 bar and there is a few knocks and creaks

not shure if the pump is working or stuck - could it be that how do i tell!!

any help appreciated

I doubt if your boiler would work on hot water mode if the pump wasn't working, but I'm not 100% sure about Potterton Puma. Check the pump anyway by listening through a screwdriver (handle to ear, point to pump) - you should hear the impeller running, not just a hum.

Otherwise it sounds like a blockage, possibly sludge (or air if any work has been done on system recently).

people, people, come on!!! we're down the the simple things again with a puma. What's the first thing to check in this situation.

does sound like dripping hot tap syndrome to me

when you say shuts down you do mean burner goes out yes :D and not boiler locks out ;)
