I have a Potterton Suprima 40 boiler and a few months ago the heating intermittently stopped working. The controls would be on and the thermostat setting downstairs was green indicating that it had not reached the required temperature. This continued for sometime, with the central heating not starting at times and cutting out before it reached full temperature.

We have since had someone in to look at it on a number of occassions. The first time he replaced the gas valve and thermistor. This did not solve the problem. The next time he replaced the PCB board. This seemed to work but then did not. The 3 part valve next to the water heater was sticking between functions and causing a buzzing sound. He took this off and set the valve to open for both heating and water in order to monitor the problem. Again this seemed to work, but we are now in a situation where the system is responding only to the hot water. When the hot water reaches, the heating cuts out even if it has not reached

Our plumber has suggested replacing the three-part valve head.

The pump seems to run fine when it is on.

Does anyone have any advice

The system is about two and a half years old
