Hi.

A friend has just rented an old 3 storey barn converted property and has powder on most walls throughout each floor.

I'm unsure of the technical name for it (think it's efflorescence).

He told the estate agent and has been told there's nothing that can be done because it's a solid wall.

He also has a new born baby and was concerned about it causing any health issues, due to the damp walls.

Any advice on stopping this.

Thanks.

Hi Nige F.

I know it doesn't concern him that much as he really likes the house, but if he was told that it could be harmful then he definitely would.

Do you know if it is.

Cheers.
