Hi all,
Appreciate its difficult to tell with pictures but hope someone can help.
I'm prepping our floors prior to employing a tiler to lay porcelain wood effect tiles.
1. Hallway area
I pulled up some very thick (seemed good quality) vinyl tiles to find this black stuff underneath. Is this butimen? its extremely difficult to shift any of it up. So the important question is do I need to get it up? can this be sealed prior to tiling? if it needs lifting, what's the best tried and tested way?
2. Kitchen area
I lifted the old porcelain tiles relatively easy as I discovered they had been stuck down onto the previous floor (some thin vinyl)
This vinyl was a bugger to get up and appears to have left a layer of the adhesive used to stick it down (flaking in parts) With a lot of effort I reckon I could get large parts up. Question is, do I need to? can it be sealed prior to tiling? if it needs lifting, what's the best tried and tested way?
Thanks all
