What preparation is necesssary to lay ceramic floor tiles on a chipboard floor in a bathroom. We have had a tiler lay such a tiled floor, but just a few months later hairline cracks have appeared.
i am not a tiler but I did see a prog on tv featuring "Mr Tommy Walsh" he said something along the lines of "if you are fixing tiles to a wooden floor / board the timber must be screwed down every 6 inches to prevent the timber from moving, otherwise the tiles will crack"
Perhaps your timber is slightly too flexible and is moving and as the tiles can not they are developing cracks
