system has been drained and refilled water comes out pretty clean it has feed and an expansion tank in atticJohnD said:Much more often it is gas produced when the steel radiators corrode.
Has the system been clean and refilled with inhibitor?
What colour is the water that squirts out when you bleed the rads?
Is it a sealed system or has it got a feed and expansion tank in the loft?
how do you find if is a negative ,how would this make a differencegordongas said:yes if the system is a negative, ( pump sucking water round)

it comes from boiler tees off to vent then tees from feed to pump then into three way vavle splits one warm water one goes through imm tankChrisR said:Where's the pump, logically speaking.
Does the flow from the boiler go
boiler> Vent> feed pipe > pump > motorised valve(s)
, or what?
MAybe the pump's on the return???
it still vents water through bleed screwdoitall said:picko said:how do you find if is a negative ,how would this make a differencegordongas said:yes if the system is a negative, ( pump sucking water round)
Open an upstairs radiator air vent with the pump running, does it suck air in or let water out.
That is the difference, one you cannot bleed with the pump running.
the feed from tank in attic is just before the pump which flows into 3 way valverob884 said:picko said:how do you find if is a negative ,how would this make a differencegordongas said:yes if the system is a negative, ( pump sucking water round)
you need to know where the cold feed enters in relation to the pump.
