the wife's 206 seems to have a bit of a problem, she was on her way to work when the engine warning light started flashing, she had no acceleration and it was very 'chuggy'. Just having a look to see if there was anything obvious, took the oil filler cap off and it is blowing air out - does this sound like a head gasket (or any other gasket) problem? It has done over 100k now (x-reg) and has never had anything major go wrong so I suppose it could be time?!

Seems to rev okay when standing still but is not idleing properly

mny thanks in advance!

Sounds like it could be a valve problem (burnt seat).Do a compression test on all cylinders for confirmation.
When you say "air blowing out",how strong is it,all cars have a small amount of blow-by gasses which are reburnt via the air intake.

If compressions are o.k.you will have to get a code reader on it to identify the fault which should be stored in the E.C.U. (engine light flashing)

;)

Hi if its a pretty late model sayy 99 on its going to be ignition coil as its one unit for all four cylinders, one breaks down and thats it run like a bag of sh*t

cheers for the replies guys, but apparently, and this is from the mechanic via the missus so excuse the technical terms, it was an (or the?) injector - part cost £67 total cost £142 so it seems it was a fueling problem
