puma 100e re-charge

can anyone advise please, i called out a plumber because i was having trouble with my boiler, noise, cutting out, locking, etc. he took a look and sid there isnt much wrong and that it needed re charging, he arranged to call back the following week and charged £45? this was over 6 weeks ago , and when i phone he says he is to busy working on a housing project. he is the only plumber for miles and no one else will come out. can anyone give me any tips for the sake of my two shivering kids.thanks

Recharging ? Perhaps he meant filling up with water again ?

If you can tell us what kind of boiler etc (i.e. look for labels on it etc) you might get enough help here to get the heating back on.

hello again, its a potterton puma 100e there is a guage underneath showing pressure, it rises into the red after a few minutes then makes a flushing noise and then locks out, i can hear the pump? moving?im to afraid to keep trying it in case it blows the house up, alexa

thats the same potty i have. if your pressure gauge is in the red, you do need to repressurise it. do a search for filling loop, its very easy to do.

you may also want to get a foot pump (not joking) and check the pressure of the pressure vessel (search for pressure vessel)

(works like car tyre, pressure i think is about 1 bar, do this first, but CHECK the forums i may be too high)

thank you very much, after a lot of calamity, i managed to get some air into the system and the boiler is coming on long enough to heat the house, its not spot on but it warms us all up in the morning . thank you to the people who tried to help, and a special thanks to breezer for his time and sound advice...alexa

glad to have helped, but i only know this through experiance, may i suggest you do as we did, get a bg 3 star service contract
