pump getting very hot

the pump when heating starts gets very hot
and gives off burning smell,the radiators not heating up only one upstais heats up slightly,is it time to change pump or some other problem...........

it sounds like the pump is jammbed (which is why it is heating up) but as it has bean "burnt" i would suggest a new pump
