In the gravity system.

If you are calling for stored hot water, and you have the central heating on at the same time, I understand that when the DWH reaches 60 degrees, the zone valve will close and shut off the boiler to prevent the boiler from cycling.

If you want to keep the CH on, how is this achieved if the boiler is shut off?

Does the boiler interlock not kick in if CH is switched on by the programmer?

Sorry if I sound dim, my pack doesn't explain this.

Thanks.

There is a change over switch in the motorised valve, if the dhw is satisfied the programmer provides power to stat then to pump and the white wire on the valve , the white is connected to the orange through the micro switch and the orange switches on the boiler.

is the zone valve better fitted on the gravity return with these?

If the vent's off the cylinder primary, you have no option but to put the valve in the return.

The valve must be between the cylinder and the vent or the cylinder and the cold feed, not the other side of either.
