Hello

I've just patched up some cracked plaster, I took it back to brick and applied Hardwall and then Multi finish. However my question is, do I just mist coat the patched area or the whole wall? I was just thinking if I applied 1 or 2 mist coats to the patched area would the 'lip' where the paint ends show through the subsequent coats of paint?

There shouldn't be a lip, the transition should be seamless. If there is then paint won't hide it no matter what you do.

a mist coat soaks in and has hardly any thickness. It will not hurt to overlap it. After you have misted it and given it a coat of white matt to even up the colour and absorbency, if you see any step or unevenness, you might want to wipe it gently with a very fine abrasive paper before dusting off and recoating.

The paint will highlight to your eye any irregularities, which you should correct before starting your finish coat. If very small, use a fine surface filler.

It is usually quicker and cleaner to scrape patches level while they are still fresh, rather than sanding.
