hi all, had a quote to fit a powerflue gas fire and surround £650 which i thought was a joke had another quote for £420 much better do you think thats a reasonable quote or should i get another quote or am i pushing my luck
work involved.. run 13 metres of 22mm pipework from near gas meter to fire.. knock out hole for fire ( outside wall as no chimney breast ) and fit marble surround fit /test etc and drink as much tea as he can

ps do they charge so much a metre when running pipework ?

Call a local fire shop. They usually sub out their fitting so won't mind quoting you a fit-only.
I'm not surprised that not many plumbers want to fit a marble fireplace!
