Having a radiator installed behind a leather sofa, what sort of gap should I be leaving between the two. Thanks in advance David

The heat WILL affect the leather if it is too near. :(

More likely to fade so I would leave it a couple of feet away if it was my suite. ;)

Dave - I had a Collins & Hayes leather sofa up against a rad in my lounge (probably with a 1/2" gap) for about 20 years WITHOUT any effect on the leather at all. I purchased another Collins & Hayes leather suite last year, positioning the sofa in the same place, confident that no damage (based on previous personal experience) will be caused to the leather.

If you put ANY sofa up against a radiator then you will significantly reduce the heat output of the radiator.

I always advise a gap of about 150 mm.

All leather sofa manufacturers will say NOT to put them infront of radiators, even if you keep applying the moisture liquid to them.

Cheers guys I think its going to have to go elsewhere in the room as moving the sofa more than a foot is not really feasable...
Thanks for the replies
