This is a bit of strange one!

In the livingroom is a large radiator, aprox 1800 x400 double convector

it is fixed to the plasterboard with 3 brackets and has always worked fine, we took the radiator off recently to have the wall plastered and when we refitted the rad ther is a knocking noise coming from the middle bracket when the heating is warming up and cooling down.

I took the rad off again and took the little plastic inserts out of the brackets thinking it was them that was expanding, alll the brackets are tight and dont move at all.

Refitted the rad and the noise went but it has now come back again. when you press against the rad it stops making the noise. its obviously expansion and contraction on the bracket when it gets hot and cold but stumped on how to sort it. the scews are not going into any timber so its not timber thats causing the noise any one had this problem before and how did u solve it?

Make sure you have the plastic insert on the bracket, if not use some insulation tape.
