My central heating system is approximately 12 years old. When would you expect that the radiators should be changed. Does their efficiency reduce with time?

I know that there can be a build up of sludge. If this is flushed out will they be as good as new?

Cheers

Depends how they have been looked after, mine are 30 ish year old.

Inhibitor, will add years to the sytem in general not just the rads.

Drain the system into a bucket to catch any bits and you can tell how bad things are, is there any sign of rust or corrosion on the rads, stick a mirror up the back to look at the bottom edges etc.

flush it all out a few times, and re-fill, add inhibitor.
