Hi everyone,

i've just removed a wall between my dining room and kitchen, and now faced with the task of laying the kitchen floor.

The dining room has 18mm Oak floor on top of 18mm floorboard, which has turned out to be about 20mm higher than the concrete floor in the kitchen.

I want to put a tile effect lino down in the kitchen but this will still leave a large "step" from room to room.

The concrete floor is slightly uneven, so levelling compound would be a first step... but after that, how would i raise it up some more? screed, underlay, ply?

any advice would be very helpful

Regards

Drew

Floor levelling compound plus a screwed layer of wbp ply.

Either that or a nosed moulding fitted at the change of floor level.

thank you,

i wanted to get away with having a step, so i think your first suggestion would be better,

it's going to take a while drilling, plugging and screwing the ply down? are there any methods to make this quicker

oh, and what's wbp?
