Hi Guys, I have a Rangemaster 55 Leisure oven. It has recently developed a problem were the oven door sticks shut, i say shut but it is actually slightly ajar so that heat escapes though still on the latch. With plenty of jiggling, waggling and swearing it will open, though sometimes you have to apply a downwards pressure on it to open it and sometimes you have to lift it.

Is this a common or easily repairable fault?

I don't want to live with the issue as the door will end up permanently damaged and its very inconvenient when you cant get dinner out of the oven!

Any help would be much appreciated.

I am not familiar with that particular cooker, but it is a fairly common fault with ovens. You should be able to purchase a new door knob or latch to correct the problem.
As this will not interfere with the gas supply, you should be able to get the spare parts by post.
If you contact a spare parts supplier, they will almost certainly have heard of the problem before, and will be able to advise you of the parts needed to fix it. Should be a fairly simple job.

Here is a supplier

On this oven there is a catch and striker arrangement-usually catch only requires replacing. If you do change striker be carefull on adjustment as if adjusted out too far will dent oven door panel outwards-seen this half a dozen times on this model.
