Hi, recently moved to a new house and looking to re-build the porch at the front of the house. I have the deeds to the property and it shows the plans of when the porch was first built in the 70's. It states there are 3 layers of ruberoid astos asbestos, not sure what this is so I am looking for any guidance on how I can progress and what precautions I need to take, thanks in advance.

Hi there. Do a quick search on t'interweb. I believe Ruberoid is a branding.
As with all asbestos its best to define the type. sheet, lagging etc. and then take action from there as that will define how its handled.

As with all things asbestos treat it with respect, wear protection, try not to damage it and if in doubt get a professional in to have a look.

Ruberoid roofing felt - bitumen with a small amount of asbestos bonded in it - it`s probably been replaced @ least once by now anyway - less risk to health than walking down a busy street - car fumes etc.
