Hi I've tried wading through a lot of the threads already to try and find explanation and hopefully a cure for my problem but none seem to come up that are quite right so forgive me for starting yet another thread regarding mouldy windows.

I totally understand that condensation causes mildew and mould but this is a bit different... it seems to only happen in the conservatory and only in a couple or three windows so I'm wondering if there is a fault in the frame or something.

This red "growth" is growing out of the crack where the beading joins the frame at the bottom of the window .... one window only on one side, two on the opposite side and on one of those two, there is quite a lot of mildewy growth on the bottom of the window itself on the rubber seal.

There are no trickle vents in there (the wind can absolutely howl around the back of the house where it is and used to drive me mad blowing through the ones in the french doors that it now surrounds) but there is a radiator and the units are these argon filled with thermal spacers type if that should make any difference?

Any help/advice what it could be and how to cure it as it's quite awkward to clean off/out of the crack between beading and frame, not to mention it looks flippin awful!

Thanks

All I can think of is that dry rot can appear as a red growth.

Seems unlikely from what you describe though.

+ to pics.

Blocked or missing drainage holes is my guess, sometimes shows up as a crusty line along the bead joint

Are there any tripod aliens outside in your vicinity?

Mold grows on undisturbed areas so growth can appear on several windows but not necessarily all.North facing and areas out of sunlight tend to be worse.
Nothing special about the colour , common to find mold in a wide variety of colours.

Good morning

Thank you all for taking the time to reply.

I will try to upload a picture ....although I believe it may be that crank39 has probably the right thing. A deep red "crusty line along the bead joint" is pretty much it in a nutshell! That's why it's awkward to get out, it's quite a 'crystaline' type of growth that's a pain to get out of the joint with out damaging the plastic, I forgot to mention that sorry.

@ jobandknock ..... ha ha ....not outside but it's possible I have tri aliens in rooms upstairs ....but apparently they're keeping the zombie hoards at bay so I will leave them there for now
