The flu vent outside the house, (directly behind the heater) is only a few cm above the ground - unusual?

The owners claim the gas fire can simply be unscrewed off the wall.

I would like to remove the flu and put a tv there.

Is this a major job? I no that a gas engineer will be involved somewhere.

Just don`t expect a gas engineer to put the brick in the outside wall...i`ve not seen one they can match in with existing.

Thanks for the replies guys. :D

Can anyone recomned a company that would do this work?

Also, any idea how much it would all cost?

You want a local gas engineer to remove fire and cap the supply off, and local builder.
I'd be guessing at the cost, it cost me 30 pound to have my last gas fire removed and capped.
The bricks will to be matched, so it maybe worth going to a local merchants to colour/type match them.
Want take a brickie long, to fit a few bricks. You may also need the internal wall, plastering to make good.
I'd ring around for quotes.
