Removing a ceiling light pull Keeping wall switch

If you want to get this working properly all that's needed is to swap the 2 blacks in L1 and ~ over:

If you just want to get rid of the ceiling switch, personally I'd use both the red and the black within the T&E to save having 'odd ends' floating about:

Thanks for your help with this.
I managed to get it all squared away in a junction box and shoved up in the ceiling. Plasterer has filled the hole and you’d never know it was there.
