I need to remove a gas fire which has a balanced flue. It appers to be only secured to the wall by the flue and therefore is the only way to remove it is to chisel out the flue from the exterior wall?

Thanks

You`ll need to get a gas safe engineer to isolate it from the gas supply 1st.Then it should be a straight forward job of removing any screws holding appliance to the wall(usually only seen with the casing off). Then as you say chipping away the cement holding the flue in place.
But you`d probably be best just getting the engineer to do the complete job.At most an hours work.
