Hi,

I have removed the wallpaper from our 1970's extension. This came off very easily, and the backing came off with just a wet down and a wide blade.

It did however leave a very sticky wall. I have washed it all down 3 times with sugar soap and scraped any glue I found left. There is very little glue left now, but there is a little.

I am going to mist coat the bare plaster walls, then hopefully 2 coats of emulsion.

Does every last bit of glue need to be gone, and if so how to I get the last remaining bits off? I've spent many hours getting it to where it is!

Thanks
Tim

It can cause crazing. There is a product named Gardz that is used for this.

Thanks Joe,

Does the Guardz not create a surface that will repel paint, like PVA?

No It's made just for that purpose. It's an acrylic resin.

Thanks guys, picked up a 5L can of it this morning. They don't sell smaller locally apparently, so I suppose I'll have plenty for the future!

This afternoon will be Easifill then a full sand down, followed by a coat of Guardz on Boxing Day.

Merry Christmas!
