Removing Rayburn and chimney breast from 1st floor

is it possible to remove this from original external wall on very old house to open up room without being cost-prohibitive?

Is the chimney outside or inside?

You will, obviously have to remove the structure above first.

Not as I saw once, some **** had removed the chimney breast from only the ground floor.
Strangely, no one wanted to work in the house after that.

And it was still standing!

It can be done, as long as you you support(correctly)what's above if you don't want to completely remove it.

As for being cost restrictive, who knows, except you.

You will not: "have to remove the structure above" - its not necessary.

And giving safe advice is difficult without knowing more details and, hopefully, having some pics.

Does "opening up the room" mean giving more space once the c/breast is gone?
