Removing redundant flue

Morning

A few months ago we had a new boiler installed in a new location. As a result the flue for the (now removed) boiler is redundant, and I'm wanting to box out the cupboard it's in.

It looks to be a twin walled metal flue; it rises into the loft, doglegs and out through the roof.

I'm not fussed about leaving it in place (saves me getting a roofer in), however I would like to remove the section that's in the cupboard. It looks to be joined with some sort of glue (presumably a sealant made purposely for this application) - is there some sort of dissolver for this glue, to save me taking a hacksaw to it and potentially disturbing the seal on the roof?

Cheers

Post a photo of said "glue" as we don't know what's been used.
