now and again my clutch will only return half way, if i am doing a gear change it does not happen. it only happens if i keep my foot on the clutch for a long time say at traffic lights or in a traffic jam, the car is a 2004 model diesel with 60,000 miles any advice please.
p.s when it does happen i have to flick my foot under the pedal to lift it back and it does not seem to alter the performance (ride the clutch)

Could be the Clutch master Cylinder, easy to replace and blead on a Laguna, a bloody nightmare to replace and blead on a megane

thanks for the advice, how much work involved in changing the master cylinder ?

My "S" reg Laguna 1998 petrol has a cable operated clutch.

Are they hydraulic on all the diesels or only after a certain date?

Not alot, but if you have not alot of mechanical know how then you could be left with a stranded car as you might not be able to bleed it.

Hydraulic on Laguna 2! Y reg onwards.

you have to bleed it backwards as in many cars

fit bleeding pipe to bleed nipple and put fluid in there

open pipe at other end and air comes out there not the nipple

use your handbrake
