hi

i have a renault trafic sl27dci. today it started hesitating and then stalled. it started fine after this but ran for 5 minutes and did the same again. this time it did not start. it now turns over but it is as though there is no fuel. it has a hand primer under the bonnet and fuel is getting through this but not to the injectors. does this sound like fuel pump? if so where is the fuel pump located? many thanks

Hi all, we run a 1.9 dci Vivaro on a 54 plate as our escort vehicle for wide loads. Shes done just over 103k's now.

I was going out the other morning and approaching a roundabout it just died. No warning lights on etc. I checked on here and many people say about the fuel pumps, erg valves etc and different sensors.......

I narrowed mine down to the fuel pump by a process of elimination, checking sensors were not dirty etc (crank, camshaft etc etc). I checked the fuel filter was ok and there were no fragments in the bottom so suspected the pump. (As it just stopped, it had to be something catastrophic).

Upon removal of the pump, I found that if you remove the large torx screws on the bit on the back end of the pump (the fuel lift pump) and remove it, that in mine it was actually a failure of the lift pump, causing the drive into it to shear from the main drive shaft. If you have checked all of your sensors, or dont have an injection warning light on your dash lit, and you suspect it could be the pump, it may be worth just unscrewing the lift pump off the back of the main housing to check the drive in to it. Then get the pump number and trundle to your nearest Renault dealer, who seem better than Vauxhall at actually sorting things out and buy an exhange one! Simples! :D
