Hi;
I am in the process of re-fitting my kitchen and have a problem with the window sil. The kitchen window sil which sits above the sink was tiled, when I removed the tiles from the sil 1/2 the tile was sitting on a ledge made of render and the other half nearest the window was suspended able a gap in the window frame.
As you can see from the pics I have just had the walls re-plastered and the plasterer has skimmed the face of the window sil but left the sil itself for me to sort out.
I want to build up the sil to provide a base for either a PVC window sil or more than likely it will be re-tiled as tiles will be harder wearing.
How should I build up the sil? I was thinking of using mortar and possibly a wire mesh support to bed the mortar into and then tile onto the mortar sil or screw / glue a piece of hard wood onto the sil and tile onto that?
Any help / tips would be appreciated.
