Repairing joist

Hey I went to a job were someone has cut out the last 12inchs of a floor joist totally out. It's the joist running parallel with the house external wall. What is the fix for this? I will try post a picture later.

You could just bolt it to the wall. Will be fine.

Thanks the only problem I can see is drilling the hole square as there isn't a great deal of room to get the drill in before the next joist. Have you had this problem before?
 
They don't do an angled drill for sds do they? Or am I wrong? As it looks like the wall is made of hard stone.
 
An ordinary angle drill will work.
You'll have no hammer but it will still work. Normal practise is to start with a small bit and move up.
 
as was thinking drilling and bolting with epoxy resin. Have never used thunder bolts before. Do they give a strong fixing?
