I recently had a new, more powerful cooker installed (including new wiring) which is protected by a 40A MCB in the Consumer Unit.
The CU still has the previous 32A MCB in place, which used to protect the previous cooker. The wire used here is 6mm2. In the kitchen this wire spurs off to supply a double socket. 2.5mm2 wires are used for this spur. This spur is now and will continue to be the only electrical outlet for this circuit, which is protected by a 32A MCB.
Am I right in thinking that the 32A MCB has now become inappropriate for this circuit? Should I replace it with a 6A MCB, or due to 6mm2 cable with 20A MCB?
