Replacing a 1/2" BSP Stop Cock

whats a BSP ?

Ive got a similar tap which wont shut off that im looking to replace. not so sure having read this.

arnt 15mm and 1/2" the same thing?

how would i go about doing that. I am only a humble layman who has leak and is learning plumbing very fast

water continues to flow when it is switched off. Does that sound fixable?
sounds like i should see whats wrong when i take it apart

whats a BSP ?

British Standard Pipe. A threaded stopcock as opposed to a compression one.

Take the headworks off, fit new tap washer, replace headwork. Check for contaminants in the valve body, or a damaged seat (where the washer seals in the body.)

You will, obviously, have to shut the water off somewhere in the pipework prior to the errant stopcock.

ill try that. only problem the main tap outside the house seems to have a leak too.
