replacing a 2 pin plug

Sorry all, this is probably the dumbest question asked for a while

ive got a water pump that has an italian plug on the end, can i cut this off and fit a uk plug ?

if i can do the italians use the same colours for the wires, or does it not matter which way i wire it up ?

Yes you can cut it off and fita 13A plug.
Colours are not the same as as far as I can remember but maybe they are now.
Remember that if there is a black wire it is probable Live, but as there is no switch it will make no difference which way round you connect it.
