Hi

I have various garden tools which all have two core orange flex. I also have a length of this flex which I use to connect to my extension cable.

I find that I spend a great deal of time unwinding and unkinking this flex before and after cutting the grass, hedge or strimming. My extension is made of rubberised cable and does not kink. I just wind it back on to the drum.

I was thinking of replacing the orange flex with rubberised cable but as I will be using it outdoors I am not sure what cable to buy. It had been suggested that Screwfix had a rubber three core cable which would do but this is rated as HO5RFF. and looking on the web this is used more for house hold projects. I think I am looking for HO5RNF but don't seem to be able to find this anywhere.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

I have just noticed that a long rubber extension lead I made has now got a perished outer. I recovered the lead from a garage in 1976 and have used it at least weekly ever since then. I will replace it with a piece of "artic" cable.
