Hi

Recently joined, second post!

My window frames hav external beading plus aren't the best shade of brown.

Where do i stand on replacing only the frames? The glazing is fine, might be a few years old but no misting etc and looks like its got a fair gap...

New units have to be part L (?) i think, they have to be signed off anyway...

I figure it'll be much cheaper to get new frames made up than the whole unit. Had a firm round who said 'no chance it has to be new glass', but then they would say that woldn't they...

Anyone else ever done this an do they really need certifying, after all im not replacing the windows themselves...?

Needs to be new glass mate. Doing just frames and using your old sealed units is like changing the front brake discs on your car without changing the pads at the same time.

The glass only accounts for around 15 to 25% of the window cost
