Ridge tile pointing

Hi, Ive noticed a couple of small areas of pointing that have fallen out of my ridge tiles on a small single storey extension. Whats the best sand to use in the mortar when I do the repair.........

Sharp sand or building sand (and why ?)

If the sand is too fine it will deterioate quickly, if its too sharp you wont get a finish on it.We try & use a certain type from a local quarry, but failing that, a 1/5 sharp sand/building sand & 4/1 mix with mortar is the best & longest lasting pointing mix.A good rough grade of building sand is best though
