Maybe the NHS needs to be allowed to run and not get used as a conduit for funds going to the private sector. It would cost us all a hell of a lot less

And on the subject of nurses, is it right that anyone doing a job which benefits society should be paid so poorly that they need to use a food bank, as some nurses do. But hell, they are just minnions whose purpose in life is to serve.the likes of you aren't they so wjy should they be paid a decent wage? Aftet all, that would be a socialist approach

And as to socialism, what about other countries in the rest of Europe, Canada, etc. Are they all socialist because they have equivalents to the NHS?

A healthy society is a productive society - something the Rabid Right will never understand.

Unfortunately I understand all too well. I understand that life expectancy is dropping alarmingly fast, I understand that excess deaths currently exceed those caused by covid due to lack of diagnosis and treatment.
I understand that nurses who are on an average salary of 34k rising to around 90k are going on strike for more money, I understand that no matter how much money is 'thrown' at the NHS, it will never be enough, it never has been since the 50's, it will always be the case.

Anyway, they've got the extra 350 million a week, what's gone wrong?

yes but you miss the point of it. Should have been an extra

Surely it is an extra. Or are you saying that for every 'extra' 350 million a week spent on the NHS, there shoud be an 'extra extra' 350 million a week, making it 700 million a week?

Why not round it up to a billion a week?, I'm sure it'll be worth it in the long run.

Straight from the Tory propaganda booklet.

Do you know any nurses on those figures. I know a few nurses, male and female, none are on that type of money.

Gone is strangely keen to distract attention from Tory underfunding.

Why might this be?

the average nhs doctors basic wage is around £50 k.

Sounds like they would be better off being a nurse

My nieces partner is a nurse, he works quite a few double shifts and does agency work at weekends. He doesn't attend food banks. I don't know what he earns, he's quite secretive about that,.

Was it that complicated !
Whatever the nhs was getting, then 350 million a week extra should be available. Extra, on top of any other money. Bonus. Free money, call it what you want.

How many hours is he working then ? Sounds like he must be a millionaire

I don't know how many hours he works, I don't clock him in and out. He's not a millionaire as far as I'm aware but I know he intends to retire at 55, possibly back to Nigeria but maybe here, he wants to buy a farm in Nigeria, I'm not sure my niece would move there, I doubt it because of family, but who knows.
Anyway, a couple who both work for the NHS (1 on the privatised side) who live very comfortably, enjoy at least 2 or 3 holidays a year and are not forced to attend food banks, and who will retire ten years early.

Doesn't make sense does it?

but it's not a basic wage as you say. Try not to mix up basic wages with working every possible hour of overtime.

a nurse should be able to live sensibly on a basic wage
