Hi, i'm in need of some help with my room thermostat.

I've recently posted on here about a Timeguard TRT035 programmeable thermostat. 'Picasso' helped me loads getting it set up properly but unfortunately I had to return it for a refund as it was so innacurate it wasn't turning on until at least 2 degrees below the temperature and turning off at least 2 or 3 over - not very accurate in my opinion.

Anyway, now i'm back with my old thermostat, the Danfoss RMT230 I feel isn't working correctly. I've currently got it set to 8 degrees celcius (as a test - not because im harsh to my family) and im sitting here in a t-shirt with the boiler running. I move the dial and i can here it clicking at about 18/19/20.

Has anyone ever experience this problem before as it's clearly not right. Its currently costing me a fortune.

If it's the case of a new thermostat, would i be better just replacing it like for like or this a common problem on these types? I would ideally like one of the programmeable thermostats again but i don't like the idea of the previous innacuracies. Also, i am so inexperienced with this type of thing so i would need it as easy as possible (although we did get to the bottom of the Timeguard so could do it if its similar).

Thankyou in advance

Sounds to me like its wired incorrectly.

The heating should only be on above the click!

i.e 18-20 degrees +

If the heating is on when the stat is turned down, does the heating go off when you turn it up beyond 18/19, or does it have no effect at all? If the former you may have just connected it incorrectly.

Having looked back at your previous posts it seems you might not have restored the wiring back to its original condition. On the RMT230, terminal 1 (COM) should be the blue wire from ‘CH on’ connection of your programmer, teminal 2 should be the switched output to the HSA3 control valve. There may also be a neutral connection to the N terminal on the RMT230. (What wires do you have at the stat?)

If you want a programmable thermostat that does work well, I can recommend the Honeywell CM907. It maintains a very accurate temperature.

Funny you should say that, i've been looking at that exact model - is it a good one then?

With regards to my wiring, the
1 - (Red) - Com
2 - (Blank) - Off
3 - (Yellow) - On
4 - (Blue) - Neutral

Does this sound correct? If not any ideas? I'd love to get this one sorted otherwise is the Honeywell the best way to go? And is it easy enough to fit?

Are these the connections at the programmer or the thermostat? It seems you need to restore the wiring back to how you originally described it.

The Honeywell is very easy to fit, requiring just two wires.

Why has this been moved back into the plumbing forum?

I also recommend the Honeywell controls :!:
