Hi

Just moved into a house and on investigation (after all this rain) it appears that the surface water drain (ie at the base of the guttering downpipe) is full of fibrous roots. I have removed some with a draqinage rod with a claw on the end but am now getting nowhere.

Any ideas?

Sounds like your underground waste pipe has cracked or collapsed.
If so you will have to excavate and replace.
You may be lucky in that it is just growing inside the pipework.
Does it lead to a soakaway if so the forna maybe coming from there too.
