Is it permissable to route continuous cable via bathroom i.e. in these two particular cases:

• ring main: shortest route is from hallway through the bathhrom and out to hallway the on the side
• 10mm T&E feeding an instantaneous water heater, shortest route is from hallway, through bathroom and to heater in hallway

cable would be under plaster, unbroken continuous run in one side of the bathroom and out the other.

Until I got to "cable would be under plaster" I was thinking there should be no problems - I was assuming you meant under the floor.

But if you mean passing through buried in the wall then unless you put the cable in earthed steel conduit, or bury it at least 50mm deep (which would probably be a structural no-no for a horizontal chase) then the answer is "absolutely not".
