I need to install a beam under a small section of semi-flat roof, it is the side wall of a single storey extension which has a simple pitched roof with a flat section at its top.
The width of wall I will remove is 2.8m wide and currently supports only some pitched roof joists - the ceiling rafters take the weight of the flat section and rest on another undisturbed wall.
The beam I install will also take the weight of some new flat roof joists that form a part of a new extension. These joists are less than 2m long.
What I'd like to know from someone with experience, is what sort of size/weight of beam would you expect to put in?
