Hi,

I'm going to be removing part of my kitchen wall as part of an extension. My old back foor and 1.5m of wall next to it are to go, with some form of RSJ put in it's place I presume.

My former builder has exposed the joists as in the attached photo, you can hopefully make out the joist right next to the vent.

I've been busy working out how to get that vent outside, presuming to add some sort of box tube along the wall cavity, but I'm now left wondering if it's all irrelevant...

Will the RSJ installation necessitate blocking off that vents current route anyway?

How far along the wall will the RSJ (s) need to go for a sound footing?

Cheers
